Heavy duty corrugated packaging is industrial-grade corrugated fiberboard engineered to protect products that would crush a standard shipping box. Instead of the single fluted layer in an everyday carton, heavy duty boxes use double wall or triple wall construction, with multiple layers of fluting bonded between flat liners for stacking strength, puncture resistance, and cushioning. Ox Box manufactures heavy duty corrugated in every industrial format, from pallet boxes and bulk bins to weatherproof crate boxes and export-compliant shipping kits, built to move the largest and heaviest products securely.
The difference is the number of fluted layers between the flat liners. Single wall has one fluted layer between two liners and handles everyday shipping. Double wall has two fluted layers between three liners, roughly doubling stacking strength for heavier products and taller pallet stacks. Triple wall has three fluted layers between four liners and delivers strength that rivals wood crating. Ox Box specializes in the heavy end of that range: double wall boxes, triple wall boxes and sheets, and super-duty grades for the loads standard corrugated can't touch.
ECT stands for Edge Crush Test, the industry-standard measure of a corrugated board's stacking strength, or how much vertical force it withstands before failing. The higher the ECT, the more weight the box carries in a stack. Ox Box triple wall comes in grades from ECT 67 up to ECT 155, including Super Duty puncture-resistant grades, weather-resistant ECT 155 WR, and board that meets the ASTM-D-5168 standard for triple wall corrugated. If you're comparing boxes, ECT is the number that matters most for palletized freight.
In most applications, yes. Triple wall corrugated delivers strength that rivals wood at a fraction of the weight, which cuts freight costs on every shipment. There are no nails, splinters, saws, or special tooling; boxes arrive flat, assemble in minutes, and store in far less space than lumber. And unlike solid wood packaging, corrugated is exempt from ISPM 15 heat-treatment rules for export, so international shipments move without the stamp. For loads that truly demand wood, Ox Box also builds economical E-Z Crates that combine both materials.
Yes. Corrugated packaging is exempt from ISPM 15, the international heat-treatment regulation that applies to solid wood crates and pallets, so Ox Box heavy duty corrugated ships across borders without treatment stamps or fumigation paperwork. For international freight we build the E-Z Shipping Kit, a self-contained triple wall container designed to be export compliant, and our team can spec weather-resistant grades for ocean and air cargo environments.
Yes. Custom boxes are what we do best. We engineer them around your product: custom dimensions, custom die-cut designs, interior packing pieces, and custom printing including your branding and universal handling symbols. Send us your product specs through the quote form and our design team will build the right container, whether you need one custom size or a recurring production run.
Triple wall corrugated sheets are the same four-liner, three-flute board our heaviest boxes are made from, supplied flat instead of formed into a container. Use them as pallet pads and layer pads between stacked product, as separators and void fill inside large containers, or as raw material for fabricating your own protective packaging. Ox Box supplies triple wall sheets in stock and custom sizes alongside our double wall and triple wall box lines.
Pricing depends on box size, wall construction, board grade, quantity, and printing, so the fastest route to a number is our quote form. Tell us what you're shipping, how much it weighs, and how many boxes you need, and you'll get a tailored quote promptly. Volume pricing is available on larger quantities, and because heavy duty corrugated replaces heavier, costlier crating, most buyers find the total shipping cost drops even when the box itself costs more than a standard carton. Orders start at just 100 units.
A Gaylord box is the industry's nickname for a large bulk bin, a pallet-sized corrugated container used to ship and store loose product in volume. The name comes from the original manufacturer, but today it covers any bulk pallet box. Ox Box manufactures Gaylord-style bulk containers in double wall and triple wall grades, including stock triple wall octagon bulk bins, rectangular bulk boxes, and super-duty bulk packaging for the heaviest loads. Stock sizes ship fast, and custom dimensions are always an option.
Standard orders ship 5 to 10 business days after order confirmation. Industrial Packaging at High Speed isn't just a tagline; with manufacturing plants in Addison, Illinois, Denver, Colorado, and Dallas, Texas, we produce close to your freight lanes and ship nationwide. If you're up against a deadline, tell us when you request your quote and we'll tell you exactly what's possible.
Yes. Corrugated is one of the most recycled materials on earth, and Ox Box heavy duty corrugated is made with recycled content and is fully recyclable after use. Our eco-board crate boxes take it further, delivering crate-level protection from recyclable, recycled-content board. Compared with plastic containers and wood crates, corrugated carries a lower carbon footprint and skips the disposal problem entirely: when the shipment's done, the box goes in the recycling stream, not the landfill.
Yes, with the right grade. Ox Box builds weather-resistant triple wall, including ECT 155 WR board, and weatherproof corrugated crate boxes designed to shrug off moisture, humidity, and dust in transit and storage. For ocean freight, air cargo, or products that will sit on a dock, tell us the conditions and we'll spec board that's built for them.
Start with three numbers: your product's weight, its dimensions, and how it ships (parcel, LTL freight, or palletized). Weight and stacking determine the wall construction and ECT grade; the shipping environment determines whether you need puncture-resistant Super Duty or weather-resistant board; and the product's shape determines whether a stock size works or a custom design protects better. You don't have to figure it out alone. Send your specs to the Ox Box team and we'll engineer the right box the first time. That's strength you can depend on.
Ox Box manufactures heavy duty corrugated packaging at three strategically located plants: Addison, Illinois, outside Chicago; Denver, Colorado; and Dallas, Texas. From those plants we ship nationwide, with freight and logistics support for large orders. Wherever your dock is, we're positioned to get industrial packaging there at high speed, and we've been doing it since 1945.
